The largest film industry in the world is in fact not about
which we write here every week. For 80 years, Indian cinema dominates its own
internal market. At present, the admissions concerns a trillion every three
months, which corresponds to 95% of the local audience. On top of that Indian
movies are at least as well known outside of North Africa, the Middle East and
Southeast Asia, such as Hollywood productions.
With a demand like this, it is not surprising that the subcontinent in a normal
year with 800 to 900 films produced twice as much as Hollywood .
There is sentimental melodrama with songs and dance scenes
larger or smaller integrated into the action. They are also quite shy, because
although the Indian censorship allowed to kiss, but prohibits smoking a
cigarette in a movie. In the normal case, the stories are long and a film can
last up to three hours. (The newest trend, however, then they cut to normal
length movie.)
In essence, they are produced with a much lower budget and
cause an artificially cheesy impression on foreign observers. But you give them
a chance; they can play more and more directly with your emotions than any
American film. Hollywood
is a well known and iconic phrase, and it is not long gone the dream factory it
once was. A good Old Bollywood Movies
reminded how invigorating and refreshing it is to get carried away at times
simply an old-fashioned musical.
As the "King of Bollywood" actor Shahrukh Khan
once told me: "In Las Vegas ,
they have David Copperfield and we in India Snake charmers. In Hollywood
they have special effects and the matrix, however, we in India have
dancing monkeys. "
On paper, last year was a good year for the Indian film
industry. The profit margins are narrow, the tickets are the cheapest in the
world and a whole there was a profit of $ 1.3 trillion. This corresponds to a
mere percentage of the global box-office revenue.
There are plans for the construction of more than 500
multiplex cinemas spread across the continent, but the implementation is
lacking somehow. In the meantime, there will be people who will say that the
industry is literally bankrupt, it treats suffocating bland manners, the
stories are second hand, too much censorship is exercised and there are no
stable stars.
To increase sales, the industry must therefore think
increasingly global. Since the last decade, more and more Bollywood productions
have traveled abroad to well-known families scenarios with modern environments
spice.
The UK
audience is large enough to make a movie like. - To promote "Dhoom 2 Back
in Action" in the national top 10, even if the Bollywood to be written
business practices rather for their own cultural radar notes in North America
alone were under the top 15 best foreign films of last year, no fewer than
eight Hindi Films India.
