Indian cinemas

India is the largest producer of films per year in the world - 1200 for 2002 - although most of them to be commercial failures (usually 5% of profitable films). But Indian cinema is the only potential competitor at the international level for American cinema, especially its style; its contents are often more suited to Arab and African markets.

In addition Indian films differ significantly from any other kind of movies in the world. Many Indian films are melodramatic, unrealistic and overly long by American standards and based on inconsistent scenarios duration. However, they are beginning to find an audience in the West. The soundtrack plays a significant role in Indian cinema. Despite this environment that could be deemed inauspicious few true artists in the sense that it is understood in Europe, punctuate the history of Indian cinema. The abundance of Indian films also corresponds mainly to the fact that India is a federal country and multilingual, each state produces his films in their own language ... the remaining reference Bollywood Mumbai.
